The Bay d’Espoir intakes were built in the 1960s to control water flow through the penstocks leading to the powerhouse. As part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro sought bids for the fabrication and delivery of a new control gate and its associated gate guides.

Mecan-Hydro delivered a full turnkey solution for the Bay d’Espoir Generating Station. From design to installation. Our scope included the fabrication of a new control gate and two gate guides, complete shop drawings, materials procurement, and all associated project documentation, followed by shipping directly to the powerhouse in Newfoundland and Labrador.
