The trash rack is a critical component of a hydroelectric power plant. It prevents large debris from entering the intake and damaging the plant’s equipment, and also acts as a barrier to prevent fish from passing through the turbine or pump propeller. By protecting the plant from debris and fish, the trash rack helps to ensure that the hydroelectric power plant can continue to operate efficiently and effectively.
Two types of trash racks exist, STEEL & THERMOPLASTIC.
