Steel Trash Rack

Steel is more durable and resistant to impact and wear than thermoplastic, making it a better choice for use in a hydropower generating facility where it will be subjected to debris and water flow.

Pros

  • High impact resistance
  • Requires less horizontal beam support

Cons

  • High thermal conductivity (Frazil problem)
  • Heavy panel weight
  • More expensive for small spacing

Stainless, galvanized or painted carbon steel bars are welded or held together by tie rods, nuts and lock washers.

FIXED

Fixed trashrack panels, on the other hand, are permanently secured to the side guides using corrosion-resistant bolts and nuts. In this configuration, underwater inspections and disassembly typically require the intervention of divers.

MOVABLE

Movable trashracks are designed to be installed and removed from embedded side guides, allowing for easier access during repair or repainting operations.
